While events are being shuttered across the area in anticipation of Hurricane Joaquin, Studio SoHy will not be deterred. In fact we have acquired a massive tent that will stretch across the alley and then some, so our beer garden will be in full effect. Depending on the weather, Avervge DJ and bands will either be inside or out but the music will not stop.
Speaking of which, brassy Washington DC-based multicultural outfit, Black Masala, will be our headlining band for the evening. Winner of two Washington Area Music Awards including ‘Best New Artist’ has made the band a standout live act in the region. Black Masala is part of the new generation of “go-anywhere” brass bands. Featuring brass, tuba, accordion, electric guitar, drums and sultry vocals, Black Masala puts on an amazing, high-energy live show that you can’t afford to miss. Check out the video below for "Bhangra V" recorded live in the studio of WRIR 97.3 FM in Richmond, Va.
Opening Reception for the Studio SoHy Cyclo Show is Saturday, October 3 from 5-10 pm, featuring local DC Metro artists creating cycle inspired art. Get your tickets now (only $5).
